The world as seen by the UK military

From the UK's Ministry of Defence - FUTURE AIR AND SPACE OPERATING CONCEPT.

- The world’s population is likely to rise from 6 to 8 billion by 2030.

- World food costs will rise leading to shortages of rice, wheat and maize.
- Oil will become scarcer and prices will rise.
- 450 million people will face severe water shortage.
- Environmental fragility threatens 1.4 billion people.
- Global inequality will continue and conflict will be ignited by radicalisation.

"Today, the world’s richest 225 people earn the same as the poorest 2.7 billion and this gap
between rich and poor will increase.  One billion people currently live in slums and
this will rise to 1.4 billion by 2020 and almost 2 billion by 2030."

The Googlher

The Googlher is a device which plugs into your computer and triggers a bullet vibrator any time that Google pings your web browser (with the aid of The Googlher Firefox Add-on). By doing so, The Googlher translates Google’s pervasive reach into highly stimulating vibrations for vaginal or anal web browsing. Mistrust and fear Google’s omnipotent ways no longer as the web giant profoundly soothes, touches, and moves you. This is perhaps the biggest thing to happen to augmented reality since the invention of methamphetamine.

The Googlher was produced with both open source software and hardware. For full instructions on how to make your own, visit the instructions page.

The Googlher Firefox Add-on is based on Jamie Wilkinson’s Google Alarm.

Reporters Without Borders: The Voice

QR codes got dictators talking in a recent print ads from the free-press advocacy group Reporters Without Borders. You scan the QR code with your iPhone, then place the phone over the leader's mouth. The mouth starts talking—but it's the voice of a journalist discussing media censorship in that country.

From Motionographer - "Britain’s Big Six energy companies are at the center of a political storm over ethical violations and the lack of progress in moving toward green energy. Amid leaks that company executives are earning up to £4m while an increasing number of British customers have found themselves in fuel poverty, Ecotricity —a company promising to change the way energy is made in the UK— has stepped forward with an undeniably cute, albeit thought-provoking public service announcement to promote their philosophy in supporting clean forms of power. Collapsing Cooling Towers is a call-to-action and asks the people of Britain to stop the Big Six by joining Ecotricity and vote their conscience with their electric bill."
