n 2002 Luke Jerram lived in St. Pauls, Bristol, in a shared house between the Salvation Army and a set of flats of men on parole for sexual offenses. Photographing the problems on the streets was my response and way to deal with living in the area.
The concertina was made by cutting and assembling these photographs. When opened, the concertina creates the impression of a miniature 3-dimensional street full of crime and social problems. Comparing the problems of the victorian age to those today, the optical technology matches the age of the architecture presented. From an ongoing series of paper studies.
