A huge suspended LED screen forms the centerpiece of The Place in Beijing’s central business district. The screen is a massive 250 metres long and 30 metres wide, and is suspended more than 25 metres above the plaza.
The screen is based on panels that have an open grid structure to allow natural lighting during the day. Much like the panels used in the Aarhus by Light project.
The entire screen consists of five panels that can operate individually or as a whole. A series of unique and dramatic shows has been produced, but the screen can also be used for live broadcasts and playing games.
There’s several videos of the screen on YouTube. Check out a few here: Video 1, Video 2.
